About the Neighborhood

Fletcher Bay is located on the west side of the island around and to the south of Fletcher Bay. Fletcher Bay is a pristine and protected inlet that can be accessed by boat only at mid to high tide. The shoreline offers homes with docks, and it is the perfect spot to enjoy the long summer days and incredible sunsets. Views of the Olympic Mountains are a backdrop that will capture your heart. At high tide, explore calm waters of the inner bay by kayak or SUP. At low tide enjoy the multitude of waterfowl that gather to find shelter and forage. The neighborhood itself is close to Island Center where there is a convenient gas station, Sawadty's (an incredible authentic Thai restaurant) and frame shop. Bainbridge Gardens is down the road where you will be able to satisfy all your garden and landscaping needs and you'll even find gifts you didn't know you needed! Nearby you’ll find auto repair shops, PAWS Adoption Center, and even a doggy daycare center.

 Fun Facts:

  • The name was given for William C. Fletcher, who took a land claim on July 17, 1869. A local name was Greek George’s Bay.

  • Up through 1930 a ferry used to operate from the southwest edge of Fletcher Bay with service over to Brownsville on Burke Bay. This was before the construction of the bridge at Agate Passage.
