About the Neighborhood

Manitou Beach is a charming neighborhood on the eastern side of Bainbridge Island and directly west of Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. Manitou Beach waterfront real estate is especially prized for its spectacular Puget Sound views and abundance of recreational activities that include paddle boarding, canoeing or kayaking, swimming, scenic walking, and bike riding. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for their wonderful wildlife, too!

  • Fun Facts: The concrete block in the bay was at one time a base for a radio tower used in WWII by the military. This area was also used as a boat building facility.

  • Murden Cove was once the proposed western terminus for a cross-sound bridge from West Point in Seattle to between Ferncliff and Manitou Beach, on the east shore of Bainbridge Island. In 1856, it was named by the U.S. Coast Survey for a beach dweller in the cove and appears on some older maps as Murden’s Cove, Murders Cove, or Rolling Bay.
