About the Neighborhood

Between Eagle Harbor and Port Blakely lies a few beautiful communities in one of the most tranquil settings on Bainbridge. This area is surrounded by water with stunning views of Seattle and Puget Sound. The neighborhoods and communities are a peaceful respite from the bustling activity of Winslow, while all the city amenities are just a 10-minute drive away.

Eagledale, Bill Point, and Port Blakely are made up of everything from small neighborhoods nestled down long dirt roads, planned neighborhoods that share a community pool, sprawling farmland, and stunning waterfront properties. Port Blakely was the original bustling port on Bainbridge Island that has since been taken over by Eagle Harbor because it was too small for all the activity as Bainbridge started to grow into the island community it is today. Because this was originally the hub of the island, the properties have more land, which creates a sense of privacy. Walking and hiking trails abound in this area along with parks and beaches.

There are 3 primary neighborhoods in this southeastern side of the Island: Eagledale, Bill Point, and Port Blakely.

EAGLEDALE

Eagledale is the gateway to the Eagle Harbor community all the way around to Port Blakely. The landscape is dotted with wonderful old farmhouses, beautiful homes with deepwater docks, and many private, tree-filled properties that leave you feeling like you’re living in the country.

A bit of folklore: Whiskey Creek was named for the smuggling of whiskey on the island back in the day.

Just down the road a bit you’ll find Eagle Harbor Marina bustling with activity on those beautiful sunny days with folks going out for a day sail on the sound. Further down, next to Pritchard Park is the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial. This memorial is a beautiful tribute to the Japanese community who lived on Bainbridge during what was probably the darkest hour of Bainbridge’s history. The Memorial is an educational and inspirational experience and should be visited by everyone.

BILL POINT

Bill Point is located on the south side of Eagle Harbor and was named by the indigenous people because of its position high on the hill. The Bill Point neighborhood was first started in 1968 and now has 81 single family homes, most with views of Eagle Harbor, Puget Sound, or Seattle. This community has its own swimming and wading pools, water system, and underground utilities, which is a big plus because of how often we lose power on the island.

BLAKELY HARBOR

Drive down Rockaway Beach past beautiful waterfront homes to arrive at Blakely Harbor. The center of Port Blakely is generally considered Blakely Hill Road & Blakely Avenue NE. The area is known for its hilly bike routes and scenic views of the sound and woodsy island.

Weave around the winding roads and you’ll stumble upon the beautiful labyrinth at Hall’s Hill with a view of Blakely Harbor. Just around the corner, you’ll find the Environmental Learning Center known as IslandWood and Blakely Elementary School. Port Blakely is home to many of the island’s farms; most notably Heydey Farm, a 25 acre sustainable and historic farm famous for its food, environmental stewardship, and strong commitment to community.
